How do you envisage the future of buildings?

In the first program of this unique hackathon series, we are starting with one of the Big Five - the core elements of the Future World: Buildings.

How can IoT enable smart buildings to empower people and businesses? How can we reduce the CO2 emissions of buildings?

Startups and other innovative companies are invited to submit their solutions and develop their own IoT application to make buildings smarter and more sustainable.

Smart infrastructures can transform cities and industries

Buildings are responsible for around 40% of global energy consumption and are also where most people spend up to 90% of their time. So why not track key metrics of building performance to monitor their environmental impact and adapt them to the needs of people?

Unleash your creativity to make buildings smarter and more sustainable!

How the process flows

We are looking forward to commencing this unique journey with you - Let's make a change!

The challenge

How do you envisage the future of buildings?

  • How can we reduce the CO2 emissions of buildings?
  • How can we monitor, control and analyze building assets and manage space in a smarter way?
  • What are new ways smart buildings will interact with people, systems and external elements around them?
  • How can smart building solutions answer the constantly changing usage profiles of buildings already before they are built?
  • How can smart building solutions help to reduce the need for buildings in the future?
  • Is data more durable than ferroconcrete – How will digitization change the face of buildings? etc.

Discover the MindSphere Smart City App

At the heart of the MindSphere Future World Series stands the ground-breaking MindSphere Smart City App and its IoT framework that bring the physical Expo site into the digital space.

The app is designed to digitally optimize Expo 2020 Dubai, enhancing the visitor experience and reducing energy and water use during the six-month event. Initially operating across two domains – environmental monitoring and irrigation – the app will collect, monitor, correlate and analyze data from the site, and visualize it to allow real-time monitoring and control of infrastructure from static and mobile devices.
